Kinja'd!!!

Last weekend there was a very spontaneous and very small Dutch Oppomeet near Eindhoven when !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! (heading towards Canada?), !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and myself headed to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . BvdV already !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and will share more, these are a few shots I thought I’d share as well. I never saw so many 914s gathered. And new cars with old plates seem to be a thing nowadays, planning on doing that for the Pao as well!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Yes. That’s an R.

Awesome shots! But where is the 3.2?

Next to the old plate trend, backdating also seems to be a big trend. The dark grey one with the too big wheels is an 80s car too.

I have a Skype meeting with Canada tomorrow, so I’m very excited!

It turned out OK, not fantastic but given the fact I didn’t have my settings right I’m happy. Will probably post some of my pictures here tonight.

Thanks! Lets hope so!

Next time you come to Europe better get some extra luggage for all those parts I’m gonna need for my JDM fleet ;-)

I’ll take the Be-1 to the Nordschleife!

Of course...

With the exception of the 959/918/Carrera GT there were not many absents.

Will do! I’ll probably take them to the JDM meet in Gemert, or I’ll bring them to Breda if I can’t make that meet.

I like the butt dragging barn find with blue California plates, although I think the plates are a bit newer than the car. Some US states, including California, now have new plates that look like old plates, for a nominal fee of course.

I am not as much of a P-car/sports Beetle fan as some. No 928s there? I like very early 911s too, as well as Targas and 80s cabrios, not the most loved cars in enthusiast circles.

I got behind a 914 while driving the fintail over the weekend. He was moving through traffic at a good clip, I was following right behind :)

Beautiful. Simply beautiful. Too bad those have skyrocketed price wise.

Totally. The last of the bulletproof porkers. An acquaintance just sold his 993 convertible. For only 35k. With 410k kms on it. It was his DD. The engine finally was showing some age...

Kinja'd!!!1

Wow, 410.000km are a lot. 35k still sounds like a lot of money considering that 996s start at about 15-18 thousand €. But those are rather.. eh. Still want one hahaha.

35k certainly is a lot considering the oil-usage definitely hinted to an engine rebuild... The guy is my hero. He had a 996 Turbo S as well with over 200k on it. Sold that one the same day earlier this year for 40k. And bought himself a new BMW 3-series for DD as he felt he was getting too old. Guess what he got himself a month ago for his daily needs...

Definitely a hero! That just proves that Porsches are cars for life and built to last (with care). And he got what I consider one of the better post air Porsches with the 981.

I really lust after a Porsche now...

Very nice. That looks like a pretty cool treffen . I’m not sure it’s up to San Gabriel Valley Concours standard, but it looks nice. ;-) We’ve got dueling Porsche meets. Who stole one of our California 911's? That car looks like a real barn find. I wonder who gave permission for it to go to Euroland. Great license plate, too, but it appears that he probably gave his order for the number over the phone and was misunderstood. It should read 911 WIN.

I think that Cali 511WIN was from Erpa . That interior smelled amazing.

We were somewhat late so we weren’t there on peak-hour. And it was a bit hot so somehow there was hardly interaction with the other owners, at least not in the way I’m used to. People were just longing for some ice cream or a drink.

There’s nothing like the smell of an old Porker/VW. All that vinyl and old seat stuffing. It’s marvelous. I did some serious sniffing at the San Gabriel Valley meet and even talked to a guy about it. We decided someone should bottle that scent. They already have their own cologne. It should smell like the cars.

Kinja'd!!!

Heat at a car show can be a killer. Especially when there’s no shade. I would have been hiding in the trees.

Klaus Schmoll literally told me at the Europpomeet: “I never thought I’d say this to someone but man does your car smell awesome”. He was standing behind it and could mostly smell fumes from the exhaust.

IN THE TREES?

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha. People comment on how the Le Car smells on the inside, but the outside doesn’t usually get a positive reaction. Personally, I love the smell of carbureted exhaust in the morning.

Yeah. In the shade. Car shows get hot.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
06/05/2017 at 03:49

Kinja'd!!!1

Is that the carburation that makes it smell differently? For being less efficient and lots of unburned mixture ending up in the exhaust?

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
06/05/2017 at 20:00

Kinja'd!!!1

Yes, exactly. And carbs get out of tune, so the smell gets stronger.
